Immediately after any weather event the village will be assessed for safety and damage.  If we observe any property damage we will notify the individual homeowner as soon as possible.  Please allow us adequate time to make these assessments prior to contacting us.  When possible the village website and this site will be updated with the current conditions.

Outdoor Furniture/Items

It is strongly advised that all residents remove and/or secure all outside furniture and other outdoor items.  During these events these items can quickly become projectiles and cause property damage and even personal injuries.  Boats, personal water craft, kayaks and row boats should also re removed and/or secured.

Plan Accordingly 

If you don't already have one, create an emergency action plan.  Items such as a battery powered radio, flashlight, water and other provisions are a good start.  How about an evacuation plan?  If mandatory evacuations take place what will you do?  Remember that emergency assistance can be limited or impossible during storm events.  If you are advised to evacuate and you choose to remain at your residence keep this in mind.

WATCH vs. WARNING KNOW THE DIFFERENCE
	A HURRICANE WATCH issued for your part of the coast indicates the possibility that you could experience hurricane conditions within 48 hours. This watch should trigger your family's disaster plan, and protective measures should be initiated, especially those actions that require extra time such as securing a boat, leaving a barrier island, etc.
	A HURRICANE WARNINGissued for your part of the coast indicates that sustained winds of at least 74 mph are expected within 36 hours or less. Once this warning has been issued, your family should be in the process of completing protective actions and deciding the safest location to be during the storm.
